Easter in Maidenhead
The Easter Holidays are nearly with us, so why not spend Easter in Maidenhead, at the Thames Hotel.
Maybe you are coming down to take part in the “Maidenhead Easter 10″. The very first Maidenhead Easter Ten took place in 1953 and had 98 finishers. 60 years later it is celebrating the diamond jubilee of probably the oldest road race in the country. The 60th Maidenhead Easter Ten mile road race will be held Good Friday March 29th 2013 and is held on a fast, flat well-marshalled 10-mile circuit which provides an ideal test of stamina and pace over this distance. If you are taking part, or just watching then why not make a longer break of it and unwind at The River Bar at The Thames Hotel. Stay overnight in one of our reasonably priced rooms.
There are lots of activities over Easter in Maidenhead and Berkshire, with plenty to do and see. How about the new “LEGO® Legends of Chima” – this year’s exciting new 4D Movie at the LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort. LEGOLAND® is only a thirty minute drive from The Thames Hotel. Why not take advantage of our Family Suites for a short break?
At nearby Grenfell Park there is an Easter Family Funday brought to you by Maidenhead Bridge Rotary Saturday 30 March 11am – 3pm. This is a FREE event to celebrate the Easter weekend. Aimed at young families (0-12years old) it’s a chance to get out of the house and enjoy some fresh air. There will be storytelling, bouncy castles, Hart Beeps sessions, Sima’s Action Kids, Easter Egg Treasure Hunt, Fairground Rides, Facepainting and much much more. More Details can be found Here
After the Funday, treat yourself to our Special Two Course Easter Menu at the Hotel’s exclusive Trevi Italian Restaurant. Only £13.50 and this year it includes a Carvery! You can download the Easter Menu Here, or you can click here to book your table on-line at The Trevi.

Mother's Day 2013
Mothering Sunday or Mother’s Day falls on March 10 this year. We can probably trace its origins right back to festivals honouring motherhood in Greek and Roman times.
In this country the celebration is thought to originate from the 16th century Christian practice of an annual visit to one’s mother church which meant most mothers would be reunited with their children on that day.
Today it is a chance to give all of our Mums a bit of a break and a nice present to say thank-you for all their hard work during the rest of the year.
Choosing a Mother’s Day Gift for this Special Lady can be difficult, so why not treat your Mum, Grandmother, or even Great Grandmother to a special day out at the Thames Hotel, wining and dining in our exclusive Trevi Italian Restaurant.
This year Fabrizio has come up with another superb menu to delight your Mum. Enjoy a choice of courses from our thoughtfully chosen and carefully prepared menu and let us do the rest. We know she deserves the best, that’s why we’ve included some of our favourite dishes and some fresh new seasonal specials. With such a great selection of delicious dishes for her to choose from, you’re bound to make Mum’s day.
The Mother’s Day Menu at the Trevi is only £27.50 per person, with Children eating for £12.00
You can download the menu here.

Valentines Day
“The whispers in the morning, of lovers sleeping tight …” sings Rush in her ballad The Power of Love.
It’s that time of the year again when Lovers all over the World celebrate their love for one another, by giving tokens of Love.
“I Love You” can be expressed in so many ways – maybe a romantic low key celebration or perhaps a lavish up market night out with “all the trimmings”!! Probably you will simply want to choose the perfect present, restaurant or even flowers to symbolise how you really feel.
Why not let The Thames Hotel help you with our exclusive Valentines Day Special Offer in conjunction with our own superb Trevi Italian Restaurant. Our Italian Head Chef, Fabrizio has once again put together a superb “Lovers Menu” which you can see here.

Interesting Valentines Day Trivia
There are many other traditions and superstitions associated with romance activities on Valentine’s day including:
- The first man an unmarried woman saw on 14th February would be her future husband.
- If the names of all a girl’s suitors were written on paper and wrapped in clay and the clay put into water, the piece that rose to the surface first would contain the name of her husband-to-be.
- If a woman saw a robin flying overhead on Valentines Day, it meant she would marry a sailor. If she saw a sparrow, she would marry a poor man and be very happy. If she saw a goldfinch, she would marry a rich person.
- In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who their valentines would be. They would wear these names on their sleeves for one week
- In Wales wooden love spoons were carved and given as gifts on Valentines Day. Hearts, keys and keyholes were favourite decorations on the spoons. The decoration meant, “You unlock my heart!

“Superb”
My 1st visit and cannot wait to go again! Had the Seafood Risotto with the 1/2 lobster, huge portion and cooked to perfection, even the calamari was spot on and I don’t usually eat it! It topped my favourite restaurant in Portugal and no one has done that in 22 years! Our waiter was very attentive, great guy, great service, great atmosphere, great price / value for money.
